OLLI Special Interest Groups Furman University

A Special Interest Group (SIG) is a group of OLLI members whose focus is a certain area of interest and social interaction. Several SIGs are already in place and new SIGs are encouraged to form any time. You do not need to register for SIGs and there is no fee. For more information about each group, get in touch with the contact person listed. To organize a new SIG, complete this form or pick one up in the OLLI Office. Questions? Contact Nancy Kennedy.

The following SIGs are already in place and ready to welcome interested OLLI members:

The Bridge Group is for players with some experience. This group currently meets on Mondays, 1:30-4 p.m., in Manly Lobby. More groups may form with enough interest.

In 2013-14, the Latin SIG hopes to enrich the Latin experience with showings of classic films of fiction and fact and a faculty lecture about Roman life. Latin SIG members have tutored newer students, and provided guidance in prepping for the National Latin Exam.

OLLI International is for those who have interests in different cultures, or have lived and traveled abroad. They meet monthly for sharing and learning and provide resources for international activities in the area. The group will develop its calendar as events arise.

Tired of going it alone to the symphony, the theater, the movies? Want to go bowling, contra dancing or out to dinner, but would rather share the new experience with others? Then join the Out and About Group for Singles and help plan a calendar of fun.

Serious Photography is for those photographers interested in day trips to photograph nature, landscapes, historical sites, and other interesting venues. All shooting trips will start at the OLLI Office parking lot. The group will set a calendar outlining the dates and times shooting will occur.
